Welcome to My Blog ( Assignment #1)

HELLO EVERYONE WELCOME TO MY BLOG  :)

My name is Berenice and I am a liberal arts math and science major. I plan to major in Psychology and go to a 4 year school. When I finish college I plan to move back to my hometown, California and pursue my career there. I am definitely excited about taking LIB 200 because based on the description of the course, I feel like it's going to expand my knowledge on humanism, science, technology and philosophy attributed to the human experience.

I would consider myself both a humanist and science person but I feel like I’m more of a humanist. Taking several psychology classes I am more in tune with the human side of day-to-day activities. For instance I prefer a verbal in person conversation rather than texting through social media. I don’t feel or anyone else for that matter can truly express himself or herself through technology. You can’t gauge the tone and tempo of a conversation through a text. If my husband were to express his love for me, I would prefer to hear it then read it. However I would appreciate the occasional “I miss you” text. Technology is there to help us get things done faster and more efficiently. To me all technology offers is convenience. Can a cell phone readily express your emotions? No, it requires a command from the user to tell it what to do.

People today are stuck in what we call the social media evolution. To go back what I mentioned previously, you can’t gauge what someone is saying through a text or tweet. If you were to look at how many arguments occur within your friends due to a post taken out of context; the number is outstanding. People can interpret a text or a tweet anyway they want to without knowing the intent of the message behind it. To me social media is a drama filled trap where one post can emerge to something really serious. Overall I feel that people at one point in their lives want to disconnect and get in tune with their human element.
